Terms & Conditions
These terms explain how our residential brickwork services are arranged, what customers can expect when working with us, and the main conditions that apply to enquiries, quotations and agreed projects.
Please read these terms before submitting an enquiry or confirming a project. We aim to keep the process clear and straightforward, with the work, costs and arrangements discussed with you before a service is agreed.
1. About These Terms
These terms apply to the use of the Brickstead Works website and enquiries or service arrangements made through it. They should be read alongside any written quotation or project agreement provided to you.
If a specific quotation or written agreement contains details that differ from these general terms, the agreed project details will take priority for that work.
By using this website, you agree to use it lawfully and not to interfere with its operation or submit information that you know to be misleading.
2. Our Services
Brickstead Works provides residential brickwork repair and small-scale masonry services. Depending on the property and project requirements, these may include:
- Brick repointing and renewal of deteriorated mortar joints.
- Replacement of cracked, damaged or weathered bricks.
- Localised brick wall repairs.
- Garden and boundary wall repairs.
- Small bricklaying and masonry projects.
- Other related residential brickwork maintenance discussed and agreed in advance.
The availability of a particular service depends on the condition of the property, the nature of the work, site access and whether the project is suitable for our services.
We may decline an enquiry where the requested work falls outside our service scope or requires specialist assessment or services that we do not provide.
3. Enquiries and Appointments
Customers can contact us through the website, by telephone or by email to discuss a potential project. An enquiry should include enough information for us to understand the type of work being considered.
We may ask for additional details, photographs or a property visit before deciding how the work should be approached.
A submitted enquiry or preferred appointment date is not an automatic confirmation of a booking. We will contact you to discuss availability and agree the next steps.
An appointment becomes confirmed once the relevant arrangements have been agreed with you.
4. Quotations and Pricing
Each project is considered individually. The cost of the work may depend on:
- The size and condition of the affected brickwork.
- The quantity and type of materials required.
- The amount of preparation and labour involved.
- Access to the working area and any necessary equipment.
- The time required to complete the agreed work.
- Any additional requirements identified during assessment.
Where starting prices are displayed on the website, they are intended as general guidance and are not a confirmed price for an individual project.
A quotation will explain the proposed work and applicable charges. Unless otherwise stated in writing, quotations remain open for acceptance for 30 calendar days from the date they are issued.
Work will not proceed on the basis of an estimated price alone. The agreed scope and price should be confirmed before the project begins.
5. Confirming Your Project
Before work begins, we will discuss the main details with you, including:
- The areas of brickwork to be repaired or worked on.
- The materials and general repair approach where these can be established.
- The agreed price and any relevant additional charges.
- The proposed start date and expected duration, where known.
- Any access or preparation arrangements needed at the property.
You should review these details and let us know if anything needs clarification before confirming the work.
Any changes to the agreed scope should be discussed before the additional work is carried out.
6. Payment Arrangements
Submitting an enquiry does not require immediate payment. Payment arrangements are discussed after the project requirements, quotation and appointment details have been reviewed.
Before payment is requested, we will explain the amount due, the relevant payment method and when payment is expected.
Any agreed deposit, staged payment or final balance will be set out in the quotation or separate written payment arrangements. No deposit or advance payment is assumed unless it has been specifically agreed.
Where payment is due after completion, the payment deadline will be stated in the relevant agreement or invoice.
Customers will receive appropriate confirmation of payments made.
7. Changes to the Agreed Work
Sometimes a closer inspection may reveal additional issues that were not visible when the initial enquiry or quotation was prepared.
If this happens, we will explain the findings and discuss any proposed changes with you. Additional work and related costs must be agreed before that work is undertaken.
If the revised work is not suitable for you, we will discuss the available options for proceeding with the original agreed scope, where practical.
8. Customer Responsibilities
To help the project proceed smoothly, customers are asked to:
- Provide accurate information about the property and the requested work.
- Tell us about any known issues that may affect the work, including restricted access or existing damage.
- Arrange reasonable access to the agreed working area.
- Move personal belongings, garden furniture or other items away from the immediate work area where reasonably necessary.
- Make sure someone can provide access at the agreed time, where required.
- Raise any questions about the proposed work before it begins.
If access is unavailable or important information has not been provided, the appointment or work schedule may need to be rearranged.
9. Materials and Workmanship
We aim to use materials that are suitable for the existing brickwork and the requirements of the agreed repair.
Where possible, replacement bricks and mortar will be selected with consideration for the existing property’s appearance and construction. Exact colour, texture or finish matches cannot always be guaranteed, particularly where existing materials have weathered over time or are no longer readily available.
Mortar colour and appearance can also vary depending on drying conditions, the existing masonry and the materials used.
The intended finish and any known limitations will be discussed where they are relevant to the proposed work.
10. Site Conditions and Weather
Brickwork repairs are affected by site conditions, access, temperature and weather. Certain materials and processes require suitable conditions to achieve an appropriate result.
If weather or site conditions make it unsuitable to carry out the agreed work safely or properly, we may need to rearrange the appointment.
Where a delay is necessary, we will contact you to discuss a suitable alternative date.
11. Cancellations and Rescheduling
If you need to change or cancel an appointment, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible. Where practical, we ask for at least 48 hours’ notice before the scheduled start time.
We will discuss alternative dates where you would like to rearrange the appointment.
If we need to change an appointment because of weather, access or other unforeseen circumstances, we will let you know and discuss a suitable alternative.
Any cancellation charges must have been clearly explained and agreed in advance. Nothing in these terms removes any cancellation or refund rights that apply under UK consumer law.
Further details are available in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
12. Delays and Project Completion
We will discuss an expected start date and approximate project duration before the work is confirmed, where this information is available.
Some repairs may take longer than expected due to weather, access restrictions, material availability or additional issues identified during the work.
If a significant change to the expected schedule becomes necessary, we will explain the reason and discuss the next steps with you.
13. Structural and Specialist Work
Our services focus on residential brickwork repairs, repointing and small-scale masonry projects.
Some conditions may indicate a need for specialist investigation, structural assessment or professional advice beyond the scope of ordinary brickwork repairs.
Where this becomes apparent, we will explain the concern and discuss whether an appropriate specialist assessment is needed before work can proceed.
Structural engineering, major reconstruction and other specialist services are not included unless they have been expressly agreed in writing.
14. Complaints and Customer Support
We want customers to feel comfortable raising questions about their project. If you have a concern about an appointment, quotation or completed repair, please contact us and explain the issue.
Where a concern relates to completed work, please provide details and photographs where possible. This will help us understand what has happened and consider an appropriate response.
We aim to acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and provide a substantive response within 20 working days where reasonably possible. If more time is needed, we will let you know.
15. Liability and Consumer Rights
We take reasonable care when carrying out agreed work and aim to provide services with the level of skill and care required by applicable law.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
Where the work is supplied to a consumer, your statutory rights under applicable UK consumer law remain unaffected.
16. Website Content and Use
We take reasonable care to keep website information clear and relevant. However, descriptions, photographs and general service information are provided to help visitors understand the type of work we offer.
Website photographs and examples may not represent the exact materials, condition or finish of a particular property. Individual project details should always be confirmed separately.
Website content must not be copied, reproduced or used commercially without appropriate permission.
17. Privacy and Personal Information
Personal information submitted through our website or provided during a project is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
This explains what information may be collected, why it is used, how long it is retained and the rights available to individuals under data protection law.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms when our services, website arrangements or legal responsibilities change.
The latest version will be published on this page. Changes to general website terms do not automatically alter the price or scope of a project that has already been agreed with a customer.
19. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, where applicable. Any dispute will be dealt with by the courts with appropriate jurisdiction, while preserving any mandatory consumer rights that apply to customers in other parts of the United Kingdom.
